Christmas Day win!
A couple from Dorset won £1 million on Christmas Day
A few minutes of family fun - as two brothers pretended to be lottery winners - became incredible reality when one of them scooped a £1m EuroMillions UK Millionaire Raffle prize that very night.
In a one-off moment of light-heartedness, Aaron and Will Smith posed for family photos as would-be lottery winners after their Christmas Day turkey lunch at Will’s home in Poole, Dorset, only for Aaron to hit the real jackpot a few hours later.
Aaron, of Swanage, Dorset, said: “We got dressed up for Christmas dinner as it was a special festive occasion and, because we also had champagne and I had my EuroMillions tickets with me, we had a bit of fun by pretending to be big winners. Back home that night it was amazing to see my numbers come up. I still can’t believe it’s happened and I was one of the 25 millionaires created on Christmas Day.”
Aaron, who works at the Bournemouth office of a financial services company, and his brother, Royal Navy chief petty officer Will, spent Christmas Day with their partners and with their mother.
Aaron, born in Swanage, plans to share his good fortune with close relatives. There is likely to be a holiday for his extended family and a more modern car for his partner Becky Travers who this month starts a new job working with young people.
As a keen amateur landscape photographer Aaron plans to invest in new camera equipment. He also loves rowing off the Dorset coast and walking.
